All of our wonderful sixth graders received a book as our gift to them this holiday season. Students were very excited to choose one of four hundred books that were wrapped and labeled for boy, girl, either and by lexile. Happy holidays, everyone!

How many books are in the Christmas tree? Come in to the Learning Commons and take a look at our tree, fill out the slip to guess, and place it in the wrapped box for a chance to win a prize. (Guessing more than one time will disqualify you from the contest.) December 19th is last day to make guesses.
During December, the Smitha Learning Commons has many opportunities for students to come in and learn or advance their coding skills. There are activities to do on code.org, scratch.org, and students can also learn how to code Sphero, our programmable robots. We hope students join us for some coding fun!
I attended the GaETC conference at the beginning of November along with several other Smitha teachers. I learned about BrainPop' s new Make a Movie feature, StoryBoard That, and much much more that I am excited to share with the rest of the Smitha teachers.
